thanks to jason and julia, i am the happy new leaseholder on a lurvely apartment downtown. and here are the pics to prove it. i might need to go room by room here to satisfy my mother's cravings for all things interior, so have patience, grasshoppers. and j + j, this is what me living in your place looks like. doesn't it look different? and yet very much the same. and look at the couch too!!!! (tanx, prem).

good news about lu

my neighbour saw lulu on friday morning jogging with her new owners!!!! SO GREAT!!!

it made me a little sad to think she's frolicking with others, and then i got so excited because it means that she only spent tops a week and a half at the SPCA. and they're joggers! and hopefully they're homeowners!!! with a high fence!!! and metal doors!!!

anyhoo, i'm happy.

this one is absolutely priceless - pooped lulu sleeping on her corner of the couch which she ravaged in one of her destructo-phases. crappy couch anyway, but the little bits of foam were every where. if they were spores there would have been baby couches all over the apartment. my favourite is when they would hang off her mouth and she would have no idea.

first day of spring

um.... i just quit my job.

i had a meeting with two board members and decided that it was the time to tell them that i didn't want to be ED anymore and that i hadn't wanted to be ED since November. so we're going to work on a plan, and an exit strategy.

i didn't officially give notice yet, but it's pretty much a done deal. just need to work the timeline out.

predominant feeling in hour 1 since discussion: shock.
predominant feeling in hour 2 since discussion with board members and with family and friends: jubilation.

and in honour of the first day of spring i changed the colour of the blog. too bad there isn't any turquoise in it.

the bitch has left the building

sadness - i took lulu to the SPCA on Monday. that sucked but i don't want to dwell on it other than to say that it was really hard (but less hard with julia's support and presence on the day of). and it is hard when it is so quiet at home. my vest was bunched up on the sofa last night, and i caught sight of it in my peripheral vision and thinking it was lulu, started to talk to it. it's a good thing i'm moving.

i have some pics i want to post of her, but for the moment, i'll just post this one.

but now i'm on the other side. my landlord has succeeded in selling the house, so the days of open houses where my fellow tenants and i would stand outside and wait eagerly for the people to ask us questions and guess as to who our new slumlord would be are over.

it is true too about how you make decisions and the world opens up for you. part of my decision in putting lulu up for adoption was so i could travel more and when i went to yoga last night, my teacher told me that she's putting together a yoga/surf retreat in mexico for november. i convinced her to do it the week of my birthday too (sucker!). so now i have slovenia sometime soon, a yoga retreat in july, a visit from my mom (maybe, hopefully!) in august, another yoga retreat in august, then mexico in november, and then home for xmas. yes, yes y'all.

and i'm moving. julia and jason leave tonight which stinks. but what doesn't stink is that i'm going to start moving stuff into their apartment on saturday. i am so stoked to be living downtown.

so stop cranking the billy joel (at least "uptown girl") and put on the petula clark, cuz i'm a-movin' downtown.

oh ya, and now i have to get back to work. i'm telling you though, that stuff about march coming in like a lion and leaving like a lamb better be true. it definitely came in like a lion, and i think i might be allergic to cats. but not to sheep - oh please, please, please, let me not be allergic to sheep.

lunchtime quicky

couple of things happening in my ever-so-boring life:

1) sadly, i'm putting lulu up for adoption. if anyone would like her, she needs a special home where someone can be with her for most of the day. leave a comment or send me an e-mail.

2) my landlord put the house up for sale and now is nagging me every day to do something. he's a turd.

3) i got a new apartment (thank you julia) for April 1st, but since julia is leaving the country on the 15th, i can move in whenever (take that, turd-landlord).

4) my neighbours upstairs had a baby girl on Feb 28th. weird thing is that the first time i heard any cooing was yesterday. i met her and she's so wee and bee-you-tiful. and she has the coolest parents.

i'll post some pics to go with all this soon but just had to get that off my chest.

so somehow in this awesome week i managed to lock my second bedroom door. there is no push lock but somehow it locked.

when i told my landlord, he offered two suggestions since there was no safety mechanism. one - i could insert a screwdriver into the slot between the handle and the rose (the circular part on the door) or two - i could use some flexible plastic and try to jimmy the lock. when he asked me if i knew what he was talking about, i told him, yes, i had seen it on beverly hills cop sometime in the early-mid eighties.

so i grabbed an empty pop bottle and sliced it up and presto, magique! i am eddie murphy (a la axel foley) and my bedroom door is open. and will never be closed again.

not only am i a "strawberry shortcake" according to the dessert survey my cuz sent out, but i'm also a "shit stinks" kind of girl. this is what a work colleague of mine told me about myself yesterday.

for those of you who don't know what a ""shit stinks" kind of girl is, it's the girl who sees the pile of poo in the middle of the room which everyone else is just crinkling their nose at and says, "that shit stinks!"

i had to laugh since it is true. he also said some nicer things but that one was the funniest. my mom didn't find it that funny but that's probably because she's a "shit stinks" kind of girl too. sorry, kind of woman.

jobs, blech

so i have applied for a new job since my current job stinks and i'm all done and burnt out.

yay for applying for new job. blech for having to apply for new job. but.... this one has real benefits instead of money in lieu.

and am doing a slooooow recovery after last week. lots of lulu-walking. saw a heron on the beach last night on the tidal flats which was very cool. i took a memory picture if all y'all want to see it.

and i'm currently at work wasting time by posting this.

oh and it's march. but that's ok.
